The Founder’s Story
My entrepreneurial journey started early—around age six—when I’d tag along with my dad to his furniture manufacturing plant that used to employ around 80 staff. I loved to sit with them, sand furniture bits, and tell them I’d be their “boss” one day. They were kind enough to play along!
By my teenage years, I was accompanying my father to trade exhibitions (both local and abroad) and participating in client conversations. I gave “inspirational talks” 😀 at my uncle’s semi-large printing company, inspiring staff about customer service and confidence.
As I got older, my focus shifted to education. I studied for my BSc with the London School of Economics and completed my CIMA qualification. This put my entrepreneurial ambitions on hold while I dove into corporate life. Over the next 15 years, I worked across startups, scale-ups, and large multinationals in different industries: exports, banking, fintech, and healthcare (diagnostics and women’s health). Interestingly, even in my corporate roles, I often worked closely with CEOs, Board members and Founders. Most of my friends are entrepreneurs; which kept the entrepreneurial spark alive.
Moving to Stockholm at 30 was a major turning point in my life. Sweden is a hub for innovation and has the highest number of unicorns per capita after Silicon Valley. I joined Nordnet Bank, Sweden’s first digital bank for savings and investment, which in the year 2015 was the leading Nordic Digital Bank focusing on savings and investments. Nordnet has an entrepreneurial culture, and it was not surprising that many of my colleagues went on to start their own successful companies. Nordnet was an amazing ground to fuel an entrepreneur mindset, and wholly encouraged it as well. For example, when I was invited by my first Manager to help him with his (then) startup, it was an easy process to get a greenlight for me to apply for time off to pursue my own dreams.
In many ways this true spirit of Swedish entrepreneurial mindset is what helped me to explore my own entrepreneurial side once again. But family priorities come first. After a long and challenging journey, I finally became a mother to two beautiful little boys; which meant putting my ambitions on hold for a while.
With my two little boys in pre-school, I had a little more breathing room to think about my dreams again. Some deep soul-searching made me realise that my entrepreneurial goal still mattered, perhaps now more than ever. So while I was busy raising our little family, I didn’t let go of my dream. I’ve been actively working towards it behind the scenes, while balancing the demands of life. Jumping into the unknown can be scary, but stepping out of my comfort zone is something I’m comfortable with. It’s time to trust and take action on my strengths.
So here I am. With a dream to help other people’s dreams become a reality. With an ambition to light up someone else’s life with a little bit of mine. A goal to build lasting and meaningful connections; connections that help us become better versions of ourselves, and the lives of those we have an impact in. And most importantly, to spread the entrepreneurial spirit wider and further. And ultimately leave the world a little bit better than when we entered it.
If anything I’ve written so far resonates with you, please reach out. And let’s build our dreams together.
“dreams without goals are just dreams. On the road to achieving your dreams, you must apply discipline but more importantly, consistency. Because without discipline you'll never start, but without consistency, you'll never finish.”
